You might look at me and say, “She’s lucky.” From the outside, maybe that’s how it looks. I live in one of the most expensive cities in America (San Francisco), I have a great apartment in a great neighborhood, I travel and have fun with friends, I am active and I have a career I love that affords me the freedom and flexibility to choose how and where I spend my time. From my perspective, this has very little to do with luck and a lot to do with the choices I’ve made.
There was a point in my life when my marriage was falling apart and everything seemed up in the air. I took a hard look at where I was and where I wanted to be, and I decided then that freedom and flexibility were going to be at the heart of whatever I did next.
At the time, I had been working as a personal trainer for about 10 years, I had wonderful clients and a great schedule BUT I had to be present, I didn’t get paid when my clients traveled and I had to put in a solid 60 minutes straight in order to receive payment for my service. When I decided to get on the freedom and flexibility train, a friend introduced me to Arbonne and led me into a new role as a nutrition trainer and consultant. Suddenly, I had a viable option for a source of income that would allow me to step outside the gym, rework my hours and start moving more freely about the country (and the world) in the name of my career. I was hooked!
Fast forward to today. I have been an Arbonne Independent Consultant since 2010, and I’m as enthusiastic about the company and its products today as I was when I was first introduced to them. The team I have built has given me reasons to visit many of my favorite places in the United States, and I’m in the process of expanding abroad. I still teach fitness classes when I’m in San Francisco, and I do personal training remotely via video conference with a handful of loyal clients, but I feel strongly that the foundation Arbonne has created has allowed me to achieve the kind of freedom and flexibility I was aiming for—and I’m only going farther.
The things I wanted when I started down this path were:
- To feel like I was working to live, rather than living to work.
- To be able to travel frequently, and to get to write that travel off.
- To do something I felt great about.
- To help create opportunities for other people to have freedom and flexibility.
- To have a stream of residual income I could rely on.
Arbonne has given me all of these things. My life is my first priority, and work is what facilitates it. My passport is gorgeous with stamps, and I find opportunities to jet around the US to stage events and help my new team members get up to speed. I love Arbonne’s nutrition and skin care products, I feel good about sharing them without reservation and I stand by the company’s commitments to eco-friendly practices and vegan ingredients. Every new person I promote on my team is a step closer to enjoying the freedom and flexibility I enjoy. And the checks come in, even when I take time to play in the sun.
Is Arbonne right for everyone? Maybe not, but there are other vehicles out there that could be. I know a lot of wonderful people who have used their Arbonne businesses to make their dreams come true—dreams that often differ distinctly from mine. I’m planning to start sharing more of the life I’ve made for myself through choices like sticking with Arbonne, so I thought I’d kick it off with this “manifesto.” I wanted flexibility and freedom, and Arbonne has helped me achieve it. From here on out, I am just learning to dream even bigger.
Flexible and Free,
